Why a home buyer publishes a directory

Brandon Barnes runs Mighty Estates. We buy houses, most often from families settling an estate. The same question came up on nearly every call: what do we do with everything inside? There was no good answer to point people at, just a scatter of ad-heavy listing sites and whichever company ranked that week.

So we built the list we were already giving out over the phone. It is useful whether or not you ever sell a house to us, and most people who use it never will.

How companies get listed

We find them, verify the phone number and website, and write a short description ourselves. Companies can also submit themselves free. Nobody pays to appear, and nobody can pay to have a competitor removed.

Featured listings exist, are clearly labeled, and sit at the top of their category. They do not change the order of the free listings, which stay alphabetical.

What we do not publish

• Star ratings or reviews, ours or anyone else's. Read those on Google, where they belong.
• Scraped content. Every description here was written by us.
• Paid rankings dressed up as editorial picks.

The Mighty Estates relationship, plainly

This directory is published by Mighty Estates, a Metro Atlanta home buying company. Listings are free and are not paid placements. Mighty Estates buys houses, so when a family also needs to sell the property we say so plainly and link to our own page. We do not run estate sales, cleanouts, or moves.

In practice that means two things. First, when a page mentions selling the house, it is labeled as coming from our sponsor and links to one page where we make our case. Second, the free walkthrough is done by us, and yes, we would like to buy some of those houses. If selling to us is not the right move, we say so. A directory that steers people wrong stops being worth publishing.

Wrong number, closed business, description that misses the point? Tell us on the contact page and we will fix it, usually the same week.
